How does the Iridescent GLUX change colors?

The Iridescent Glux displays different colors within itself based on the kind of light source (ie. sunlight or incandescent). It doesn’t physically change colors like our thermochromic Glux which turns from an orange to bright yellow, this one is more of a subtle spectral shifting.

Your Magnetic Glux is infused with millions of nano-magnets that give this putty its special properties. As it is, this putty will react to the presence of a magnet. To make this putty an exponentially strong magnet itself, you can ‘charge’ it by aligning all its particles with rare earth magnet.

Once charged, this putty will have lots of fun magnetic powers. It will attract a magnet or other pieces of Magnetic GLUX. It can repel a magnet and then attract it back again or move, roll, and lift a magnet from a distance. You can make it pick up lightweight metal objects, and lock a tendril in space against gravity. When you manipulate and smoosh Magnetic Glux all the millions of micromagnets are pulled and oriented in random directions. This cancels their magnetic field. To regain the magnetic properties of Magnetic Glux, expose it to a magnet again and the particles will realign and face the same direction.

Place your Glow GLUX under a bright light or sunlight for a minute and let the putty soak in the energy. Now when you bring it into a dark space your putty will be brilliant.

During World War II, America’s supplies of natural rubber was scarce. The Japanese had occupied many areas in the South Pacific where rubber trees are found.

GLUX Putty and many other silicone rubber products were developed during World War II as American industries searched for rubber substitutes that could be used in place of natural rubber tires, gaskets, and seals.

In 1936, at the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research, Dr. Earl Warrick began experimenting with “organosilicon” chemistry - combining silicon (think: sand, glass, computer chips) with carbon (think: you and me, charcoal, and fossil fuels).

In 1943, he left the institute to join the newly formed Dow Corning Corporation. His research was refocused – help the war effort by developing a synthetic rubber substitute. Although he failed to produce a suitable rubber before the end of the war, one result of his experiments was a Silicone Bouncing Putty (the primary ingredient in GLUX Putty).

Although it had no industrial use, he kept some around - it made a nifty toy!

After lots of use and love, my GLUX Putty has gotten rather dirty. How can I remove bits of hair/dirt/fuzz from my GLUX Putty?

So far, we haven’t come up with cost effective way to clean GLUX Putty. If your GLUX Putty has collected too much stuff for your liking, we suggest you purchase a fresh tin.

Is GLUX Putty safe for use by children?

Although GLUX Putty is completely inert, non-toxic, and safe, it may present a choking hazard to children if placed in the mouth or if a child attempts to swallow the product.

Please exercise extra caution around small children. GLUX Putty should not be used by children under three years of age for this reason.

No way! GLUX Putty is silicone based, not clay or earth based like other modeling compounds. GLUX Putty will never dry out or crumble.

The only reason to keep it in a closed container is to offer protection from dirt, dust, and hair that may otherwise accumulate on it.

When GLUX putty is hit with a super fast force (like a hammer, a high-speed blender, or dropped from a very high height), it acts like a solid and breaks into pieces.
